What is the PFA?

All parents, guardians, friends and teachers from within the Glen Katherine community belong to the PFA. We provide a vital link between the school community and staff.

Our meetings are informal and provide an ideal opportunity to put forward new ideas, to learn about school activities, new initiatives and to influence policy in the making or help make changes to existing policy.

Our meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month in the Staff Room in the School Office Complex, and start at 7.30 pm. (Second Tuesday in November due to Cup Day and no meetings held during school holidays.) Watch the Linkletter for details of meetings.

PFA fundraising efforts have provided:

  • Sports uniforms
  • The gazebo
  • Shade sails
  • Computers in classrooms
  • Playground equipment
  • Classroom resources
  • Electronic whiteboards
  • Carpets
  • Technology equipment (e.g. scanners, printers, digital cameras, data projectors)
  • Marquees for sporting events
  • Child minding during 3-way conferences and much more!

While fundraising is a highly visible and large component of what we do, did you know we also:

  • Assist with the Prep Transition Program, including Cheers & Tears morning tea for the parents on their first day and the Twilight Tea for Prep and new families.
  • Contact and welcome new families to the school
  • Arrange social & family events, e.g. movie nights, dinner dances, family photos
  • Provide Mother’s Day and Father’s Day stalls for students to purchase gifts
  • On-sell  second-hand uniforms
  • Provide refreshments and assist with tours for Education week
  • Organise guest speakers who can provide information to parents that may assist in raising children

If there is something here that interests you and you would like to get involved, we’d love to have your help. However, if you are unable to be involved in this way, why not just come along to our meetings and have your say on what happens in our community.
